HOW IT WORKS: THE TRIGGER RESPONDS TO 1/3 OF VCC (now 3V with 9V) AND THE THRESHOLD RESPONDS TO 2/3 OF VCC (now 6V because VCC is 9V). IF TRIGGER GETS ACTIVATED, OUTPUT TURNS ON. IF THRESHOLD IS ACTIVATED, OUT TURNS OFF AND DISCHARGE CONNECTS TO GND, WHICH MAKES THE CAPACITOR DISCHARGE TO 3V THEN THE CYCLE STARTS OVER AGAIN... AND AGAIN.
To adjust the resistor and capacitor values, FOLLOW THIS EQUATION: 1 OHM TIMES 1 FARAD = 1 SECOND. The first resistor is ON time, second is OFF time. The circuit type is a resistor-capacitor timing circuit, general type is oscillator, because it goes from 6V to 3V repeatedly.
