If you didn't see my first blog post about making a phone, here's the link: circuitblog.weebly.com/blog/how-to-make-a-raspberry-pi-phone
I was playing around with my Raspberry Pi Phone, and I found out how to do 2 cool things: send pictures in texts (aka send emails using Python) and play videos. Here's how to do them:
How to Play a Video:
Step 1. Install mplayer
This step is pretty simple. We just have to install a video player.
Open up your command line and type these commands:
Open up your command line and type these commands:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mplayer
sudo apt-get install mplayer
And you're done... with installing mplayer. Good job!
Step 2: Use it!
Make a shell script called "playVideo" using this command:
nano /home/pi/playVideo
That should bring up a text editor. In the text editor, type:
#!/bin/bash
sudo SDL_VIDEODRIVER=fbcin SDL_FBDEV=/dev/fb1 mplayer -vo sdl -framedrop -zoom $1
sudo SDL_VIDEODRIVER=fbcin SDL_FBDEV=/dev/fb1 mplayer -vo sdl -framedrop -zoom $1
To exit the text editor, press Control-X and then Y.
Now use your shell script like this:
/home/pi/playVideo <path-to-video-file>
Have fun playing videos!
How to send MMS (aka emails):

Step 2: Reboot
Type this command:

You're all done! Have fun!
